Coming together from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, our skilled team of volunteer and contract professionals believe and support in The Grace Tree Foundation mission. They reach out in our community sharing somatic movement modalities like trauma sensitive yoga (TSY) as a way to restoration, and empowerment for releasing stored trauma in the body and its effects on the central nervous system. Read to learn more about our incredible somatic, trauma and mindfulness specialists who are all have been trained through Yoga Alliance 200/500 hour yoga teacher training schools, Certified International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT), and hold a minimum of 2 or more hours Trauma Informed specialty training certifications.

Grace Tree and Soma Collective are excited to introduce Cyndi Abbott, MA, RN, RYT, Yoga Therapist Intern as she offers yoga as a complementary experience to your life health care practices to lower stress, create calm, and renew comfort of movement and mind. Her decades of healthcare experience allow confident understanding of chronic stress and related pain. She teaches yoga at various studios, military gyms in addition to private classes.
Cyndi is a Vedic Educator certified in yoga, meditation, and lifestyle wellness practices at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing founded by Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon, MD. She is certified to teach 4 traditions of yoga to bring the best of postures and breath to your practice. Cindy study’s merge western healthcare with traditional eastern Hatha yoga lifestyle practices. Cyndi is currently a Yoga Therapist Intern in practicum mentored by C-IAYT Yoga Therapists at Practice Yoga Austin. She completed a masters and doctorate in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She loves to walk and hike in city and national parks, sail, ski, and play Pokemon Go with her children. She is excited to offer benefits of yoga in a safe environment for you to move with greater ease and build body-mind resiliency in life. Debbie Sifuentez comes to The Grace Tree Foundation and Soma Collective as an experienced educator. Debbie also holds Yoga Alliance 300 hr., 500 hr. RYT, Prenatal Yoga Teacher designation, and a Yoga Therapy Intern in practicum mentored by C-IAYT Yoga Therapists at Practice Yoga Austin. One of the recent specialties she has added is teaching Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) by completing her TSY community volunteer hours for her Grace Tree Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher Level 1 Certification. Yoga is an integral part of her life and gives her the freedom of moving her body and making space for movement. She holds and emphasizes the importance of incorporating breath with movement in and out of her yoga classes. She enjoys sharing her love for Yoga with as many people as possible. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Texas A&M International, and a Master’s degree in Counseling from UTSA. Debbie earned her Teaching Certifications through the Region 20 Alternative Certification Program. You can join Debbie on Mondays at 6:00 PM for Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR), and R.I.S.E. Yoga on Wednesdays at 6;00 PM at The Vine Wellness Group.

Jenny began her teaching career in 2006, after yoga helped her recover from a severe injury to her spine. She has since accumulated over 1000 hours of study in multiple lineages of yoga and is now a yoga therapist certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT). She incorporates movement, breath, meditation, and sound into both her public classes and private lessons, always striving to make yoga accessible to all levels and for every body. Jenny currently holds a position as part of the Expressive Therapy Department at Seton Shoal Creek in Austin, TX, bringing yoga to 5 distinct populations.
Jenny has also joined Restore, and outpatient program specifically designed for complex trauma within the Veteran and Civilian population with Seton Behavioral Health Center. She has completed an additional 300 hours of training in the lineage of T.K.V. Desikachar with Chase Bossart, leading to a two-week internship at KYM in Chennai, India. A 200+ hours of training in Ayurveda with Elizabeth Cunningham Bossart, Trauma Sensitive training with David Emerson and Trauma Theory Specialist Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk at Kripalu, a Level 1 iRest Training with Richard Miller, and has also studied meditation extensively with Mehtab Benton and Gurucharan Khalsa at Yoga Yoga. She continues her healing studies with Indigenous groups in through Maria Elena Martinez.

Teaching exercise science and human performance movement specialist for 25+ years includes teaching Yoga since 2002. Viana has received her classical 200 hr. E-RYT, 500 hr. RYT, YACEP Continuing Education Provider, and is a Grace Tree Somatic Trainer. Viana is pursuing her 1000 hr. Yoga Therapy training through Practice School of Yoga Therapy, currently a Yoga Therapist Intern in practicum mentored by C-IAYT Yoga Therapists. She holds over 200+ specialty hrs. in Somatic, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, 100+ hrs. Osteo-Trauma, Mental Health Theory and has completed her 300-hr. yoga therapy module 1 in May 2019 and currently in her clinical practicum internship specializing in physical and mental health trauma. In Fall 2018 she founded Soma Collective, to bring community Somatic Movement and Yoga Therapy Intern services to under-served populations to Bexar County and surrounding areas. Her first focus is to bring her experience and servant leadership skills to trauma survivors and their supporters to help recover from trauma's debilitating effects. Her passion is in teaching weekly volunteer trauma sensitive yoga classes to in-patient residents at San Antonio State Hospital, Yoga for 12-Step Recovery to residents of Haven for Hope and working in her Somatic Movement & TSY Private Practice.
Part of her focus is to teach those with the same passion to grow trauma informed care in all communities by leading the Grace Tree Project: Trauma Specialist Yoga & Somatic Training Level 1-3, and workshops for CYT/RYT yoga teachers and community support trauma professionals. Viana has studied under Yoga Specialists Jenn Turner, Stephanie Carter, Nikki Myers, Whitney O'Baugh, Jenny Oh, Tari Prinster, Emily Smith, Dr. Mark Uridel, DPT, and Trauma Theory Specialist Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk. Viana leads Grace Tree's private & group Somatic Movement and Trauma Sensitive Yoga sessions, and began partnering with The Vine Wellness Group in January 2019, whose belief in holistic mental health therapy is part of their long time existence at The Vine Wellness Group. As an experienced speaker, presenter and panelist she gives a large variety Trauma Awareness, Somatic Movement, and TSY presentations all over Texas. Join Viana for private sessions and group classes, The Vine Wellness Group and Find Your Balance Yoga on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month
at The Ecumenical Center of San Antonio. Viana and her husband Ron love travel, and she enjoys reading and will always find her with a book in her bag, loves quilting, cooking,
dogs specifically Chihuahuas.
